Arts and Crafts Home

An estate home bordering one of Albert’s beautiful rural communities, this project is heavily influenced by theme. And why not? Tudor, french cottage, craftsman… it all works when you have an idyllic site and take the time to get it right.

The raw shingles, intricate stonework and bellcast roofline, make the home stand out without competing directly with its surroundings. Instead, it looks like a natural addition to Springbank’s rural peppering of farms and ranches.

The features of the home are what make it stand out within Peake’s portfolio. The devil is in the details, as they say. A home design can be as grand as you like, but it will not succeed unless each element is carefully considered and properly executed. We pride ourselves on such details.

We were given a great deal of latitude from our clients regarding these features. Obviously, we had a lot of fun with that, and many of these characteristics can be found within the stonework. Specifically, the entrance stairway, the window details, the capping of the exterior stonework, and the transition in stonework styles.

While a few sheep or some parading ducks would not look out of place as characters set against this residence, its elevated French country design also lends itself to a more urban dweller.
