Luckily, an acreage build meant we were not limited by a subdivision layout. As such, the home does not have a linear feel. In fact, it is almost non-cohesive in its style, but in the best possible way. The house looks as if it could have come to be over time. Perhaps beginning as a single-story rancher and evolving to suit the needs of a growing family or a multi-generational use of the space.
The main entrance is reminiscent of an old stone cottage; soft, understated, and immediately warm. It is flanked on one side by an equally charming livery-style garage with living quarters above. A complete second story has been created at the home’s other end. While visually divergent from the rest, it adds to the story and character so important to this project. Just as the entry could be 100 years old, this could have been an addition built to accommodate a growing family.
A foothills cottage, imagined by clients who wanted to be part of the journey every step of the way. This was a unique project and an invaluable experience for Peake. We love these collaborations and look forward to the stories we can tell with clients such as these.
